I’ve been obsessed with my Bella Vita Olive Oils and Vinegars & discovered Shrubs!! (And did I mention, I do NOT like vinegar)
Cutting out alcohol from the diet is VERY hard, but I’ve been experimenting with mocktails & a friend introduced me to shrubs. Super simple, healthy, & not only helps cleanse but it also has very little calories & sugar compared to wine or other cocktails.
Shrubs were popular during the Colonial Era & are made by mixing a vinegar syrup with carbonated water & are somewhat similar to bitters. I’ve found some great infused vinegars that have made amazing drinks. My faves shown above. Dark chocolate makes for a good dark red wine with chocolate and berry notes, and coconut and pineapple make for a good white wine mix. You can use a plain or flavored soda water or I even used this Fre brand of sparkling non-alcoholic Brut. For less calories, stick to the soda. It only takes 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar and you have yourself a flavorful drink without alcohol and full of all the benefits that vinegar bring to your diet like burning fat, reducing glycemic response, moderating insulin and glucose levels and cleansing.
